Our GZA

The organization GZA is a union of Georgians living in Germany, aiming to bring Georgia's issues to the forefront in Europe. Its main objectives are to increase awareness about Georgia among the European public and to support Georgia's European integration. The organization disseminates information on both current and historical events in Georgia and actively opposes entrenched russian propaganda. Over several months of active work, GZA has become a significant representative of the Georgian community in Berlin. In doing so, it has laid the foundation for building a modern, politically and socially engaged Georgian diaspora in Germany, which will play an important role in ongoing processes and in the sustainable relationship between these two countries.

To achieve its goals, GZA adopts a multifaceted approach. It's informational campaign includes protests, performances, cultural and scientific events about Georgia in various European languages, and the production of knowledge. To this end, it writes and translates blogs, news articles, and scientific, political, and popular-science texts in German and English. GZA also places significant emphasis on the involvement of the diaspora community in these processes, including famous scientists, artists, writers, musician and other esteemed personalities.

The central and ongoing themes for GZA include opposing russian occupation and supporting Ukraine. In solidarity with the protests against “the russian law” in Georgia, it held diaspora rallies in Berlin and addressed the staff of the Georgian Embassy in Germany with an open letter. Currently, GZA is focusing primarily on the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 2024. The main goal is to ensure that the maximum number of Georgians living in Germany participate in the elections. In addition to events encouraging political engagement, members of the organization regularly consult with both German politicians and Georgian opposition parties. GZA collaborates with civil society organizations in Georgia, supports their work, and helps consolidate a united political stance. There are also plans to establish close relationships with European foundations and various diaspora organizations in Germany from countries such as Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, and others. In the future, GZA aims to become a significant hub that connects like-minded people from across Europe.
